For replacement front cable drive parking brake, do the following.
You will need a tall socket or wrench «on 10».
1. In the car, remove the lining of the floor tunnel (see «Removal and installation of floor tunnel lining»).
2. Completely loosen the front parking brake cable by screwing the adjusting nut all the way to the end of the cable threaded end.
3. Remove the parking brake lever (see «Removal and installation of the parking brake lever»).
4. Completely unscrew the adjusting nut (shown in the photo with an arrow) from the threaded end of the cable and remove the front parking brake cable from the lever guide.
5. Install the front parking brake cable and removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
6. Adjust the parking brake (see «Parking brake actuator adjustment»).
For replacement rear drive cable parking brake, do the following.
You will need: socket head «at 13», wrench for wheel nuts, pliers.
1. Engage 1st gear in a manual transmission or set the automatic transmission control selector lever to position «R» (parking) and place chocks under the front wheels.
2. In the car, remove the lining of the floor tunnel (see «Removal and installation of floor tunnel lining»).
3. Completely loosen the front parking brake cable by screwing the adjusting nut all the way to the end of the cable threaded end.
4. Hang the rear wheel and support the rear of the car on the support on the side of the rear cable to be replaced. Remove the rear wheel.
5. Remove the brake drum (see «Removal and installation of a brake drum»).
6. Remove the brake pads (see «Replacing the brake pads of the brake mechanism of the rear wheel»).
7. Squeeze the tabs of the cable lock...
8.... and push the latch into the hole in the brake shield.
9. Move the back of the cable slightly forward so that the tip of the front of the cable is against the opening in the coupler...
10.... remove the tip from the sleeve...
11.... and remove the back of the cable, removing it from the hole in the brake shield.
12. Turn out a bolt of fastening of an arm of a cover of a forward part of a cable to the lever of a back suspension bracket...
13.... and remove the bolt.
14. Disconnect the bracket from the lever...
15.... and remove the front of the cable from the bracket on the lever.
16. Remove the parking brake lever (see «Removal and installation of the parking brake lever»).
17. Disconnect the front end of the cable from the equalizer by sliding it out of the lower slot in the equalizer.
18. Remove the cable front cover seal from the hole in the base of the body and remove it by pulling it down from this hole, under the car.
19. Similarly, remove the rear parking brake cable from the right side.
20. Install the rear parking brake cables in the reverse order of removal.
21. Adjust the parking brake (see «Parking brake actuator adjustment»).
