To control the automatic transmission, a selector is mounted on the steering column. The selector is connected to the valve block by a cable, and with its help you can set the range of gears used.
The selector has six positions - "P", "R", "N", "D", "3", "2" and "1".

Note: The engine can only be started when the selector is in position "P" or "N".
Position "P"
Selected when the car is parked for a long time. In this position of the range selector lever, all controls in the box are turned off, and its output shaft is locked; the vehicle cannot move. It is permissible to move the selector to this position only when the vehicle has come to a complete stop. Moving the selector to the "P" position while moving will damage the gearbox.
The "P" position is engaged as follows:
a) Press the brake pedal all the way down and apply the parking brake.
Warning: parking the car on slopes with the automatic transmission selector in the "P" position may cause hydraulic shock to the automatic transmission distribution valve, which may result in automatic transmission failure. To prevent automatic transmission failure, always apply the parking brake before moving the automatic transmission selector to the "P" position.
b) Pull the selector towards you.

c) Move the selector upwards as shown in the figure.

If you cannot move the automatic transmission selector from position "P" to any other position with the brake pedal pressed:
- a) Turn the ignition key to the "ACC" position (in this position of the ignition switch, the automatic transmission selector lock system does not work).
- b) Press and hold the brake pedal until you start moving.
- c) Move the selector to the "N" position.
- d) Start the engine and set the automatic transmission selector to the required position.
Warning: Contact a car repair shop to correct the problem.
Position "R"
Reverse. The selector can be moved to this position only when the car is stationary. Moving the selector to the "R" position while moving forward can lead to failure of the gearbox and other transmission components.
Position "N"
Corresponds to neutral. All control elements in the gearbox are switched off, which ensures the absence of a rigid kinematic connection between its driving and driven shafts. The output shaft locking mechanism is switched off, i.e. the car can move freely.
It is not recommended to move the selector to the "N" position while coasting (by inertia). Never turn off the ignition when driving downhill. This practice is dangerous because you can lose control of the car.
Position "D"
The main driving mode. It provides automatic switching from first to fourth gear. It is recommended to use it in normal driving conditions.
Position "3"
Shifting is only allowed up to third gear. Engine braking mode is used in this range. At high speeds, skidding and overturning of the car or damage to the transmission are possible.
Position "2"
Only first and second gears are allowed. Recommended for use on winding mountain roads, for example. Shifting to third and fourth gears is prohibited. Engine braking is used effectively in this range.
Position "1"
Only first gear is allowed. This range allows for maximum engine braking. It is recommended for driving on steep descents, ascents and off-road.
Trailer/trailer towing mode
The trailer/trailer towing mode is designed to increase traction on the drive wheels when towing a large trailer or a trailer whose weight exceeds 75% of the unladen weight of your vehicle. This mode is used when driving on rough terrain, in the urban cycle or when parking the vehicle, i.e. when it is necessary to improve vehicle control when driving at low speeds.
The mode is switched on by pressing the switch located at the end of the automatic transmission selector.

When the trailer/trailer towing mode is activated, the corresponding indicator lights up on the instrument cluster.
