Checking and adjusting the tension of the timing belt (Chevrolet Aveo T250)

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Disconnect the supply air temperature sensor connector.

3. Disconnect the air duct from the throttle body.

4. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the valve cover.

5. Remove the air filter housing.

6. Remove the right front wheel.

7. Remove the right front wheel mudguard.

8. Remove the accessory drive belt.

9. Remove the upper part of the timing belt cover.

10. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

10. Remove the crankshaft pulley.


11. Remove the lower part of the timing belt cover.

11. Remove the lower part of the timing belt cover.


12. Install the crankshaft pulley bolt.

13. Turn the crankshaft by the screw at least one full turn clockwise.

14. Align the dot on the crankshaft sprocket with the mark on the bottom of the rear of the timing belt cover (see figure T250 2.032).



15. Align the mark on the camshaft sprocket with the mark on the top of the rear of the timing case.

16. Slightly loosen the three coolant pump mounting screws.

17. Turn the coolant pump clockwise to tighten the timing belt as much as possible.

18. Lightly tighten the coolant pump screws.

19. Align the holes in the automatic timing belt tensioner adjustment lever with the hole in the automatic timing belt tensioner bracket (see figure T250 2.020).

20. Insert a 4.5mm screwdriver into the hole of the adjustment lever and the hole of the tensioner bracket to fix them in a combined state.

21. Turn the crankshaft clockwise two full turns.

22. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the mark on the crankshaft toothed pulley aligns with the mark on the timing belt cover.

23. Remove the screwdriver from the automatic timing belt tensioner.

23. Remove the screwdriver from the automatic timing belt tensioner.


24. Loosen the coolant pump mounting screws.



25. Turn the coolant pump so that the mark on the automatic timing belt tensioner adjustment lever aligns with the mark on the automatic timing belt tensioner bracket, and tighten the coolant pump mounting screws to a torque of 10 Nm.

26. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.

27. Install the lower part of the timing belt cover.

28. Install the crankshaft pulley and tighten the crankshaft pulley screw to a torque of 95 Nm, then tighten the crankshaft pulley screw to an angle of 30° + 15°.

29. Install the upper part of the timing belt cover and tighten the mounting screws to a torque of 10 Nm.

30. Install the accessory drive belt.

31. Install the right front wheel mudguard.

32. Install the right front wheel.

33. Install the air filter housing and tighten the mounting screws to 8 Nm.

34. Connect the air duct to the throttle body.

35. Install the crankcase ventilation tube.

36. Connect the supply air temperature sensor connector.

37. Connect the negative battery cable.
