NOTE: The brake pipe mounting nuts are usually very tight. When trying to loosen them with a regular wrench, the edges of the nuts are crushed, so we recommend using special wrenches for brake pipes.
The vacuum brake booster is a complex structure that is difficult to disassemble. Its adjustment and repair require qualified personnel and special equipment. In addition, the booster is a device that directly affects traffic safety; poor-quality repairs can lead to serious consequences, so if there is a malfunction, replace the entire booster. The methods for checking the performance of the vacuum brake booster are described above (see "Checking the operation of the brake booster").
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the brake master cylinder (see "Replacing the master brake cylinder").

3. Remove the two vacuum booster mounting bolts.
NOTE: If you are removing the amplifier for purposes other than replacement, you do not need to remove the mounting bolts from the amplifier housing.

4. Remove the two-way valve from the brake booster sealing bushing hole, set it aside without disconnecting the vacuum pump hose and the wiring harness connector...

5. ...and remove the amplifier into the engine compartment.

NOTE: The tip of the brake booster piston rod is inserted into a special stop on the brake pedal and is not secured to it in any way.

6. If replacing the vacuum booster, remove the sealing gasket and install it on the new booster.
NOTE: Replace a gasket that is severely compressed or torn.

7. Remove the rubber sealing sleeve of the two-way valve from the hole in the amplifier body and inspect it.

NOTE: Replace a bushing that is heavily compressed, hardened or cracked, as poor condition will result in amplifier failure.
8. Install the brake booster and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
9. Fill the brake fluid and bleed the system (see "Bleeding the hydraulic brake system").

NOTE: Be sure to replace the rubber sealing ring of the brake master cylinder flange with a new one.
