1. Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
2. Loosen the lock nut and unscrew the tie rod end, holding the tie rod from turning with a wrench.
3. Count the number of threads on the end when unscrewing so that you can pre-adjust the front wheel alignment during installation.
4. Remove the rack boot clamps and remove the boot.
5. Turn the steering gear shaft so that the joint between the rack and the steering rod extends as far as possible from the steering gear housing.
6. Hold the steering rack with an open-end wrench and use another wrench to loosen the steering rod.
7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
