Maintenance schedule (Chevrolet Lumina 1)

            0

The following service interval data is based on the assumption that the service work will be performed by the vehicle owner and not by a workshop. While time and mileage intervals are based on manufacturer recommendations, most have been reduced to ensure that lubricating oils and special fluids are checked and replaced at intervals that ensure maximum engine life.

Please note: Maintenance intervals are based on operating conditions in the USA and may require adjustment.

Every 250 miles or weekly, whichever comes first

  • Check the engine oil level (section 4)
  • Check the engine coolant level (section 4)
  • Check the fluid level in the windshield washer reservoir (section 4)
  • Check the brake fluid level (section 4)
  • Check the fluid level in the clutch reservoir (section 4)
  • Check the condition of your tires and their pressure (section 5)

Every 3000 miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first

Perform all the above checks, plus:

  • Check the axle shaft covers (section 13)
  • Check the condition of the suspension and steering components (section 14)
  • Check the condition of the exhaust system (section 15)

Every 7,500 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first

Perform all the above operations, and also:

  • Perform wheel rotation (section 16)
  • Check your brakes (section 17)*
  • Check the fuel system (section 18)
  • Replace the air filter and the crankcase ventilation filter (section 19)

  • Replace the fuel filter (section 25)
  • Lubricate the chassis (section 26)
  • Replace the hydraulic fluid in the automatic transmission (section 27)**
  • Check the operation of the thermostat (for 3.1L engines only) (section 28)
  • Perform maintenance on the cooling system (drain the coolant, flush the system and refill the coolant) (section 29)
  • Check and replace the PCV valve if necessary (section 30)
  • Check the gasoline vapor removal system (section 31)
  • Replace spark plugs (section 32)
  • Check spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor and wiring (section 33)

Every 60,000 miles or every 36 months, whichever comes first

  • Replace the engine poly V-belt (section 21)

* If your vehicle is frequently towing a trailer, in stop-and-go traffic, or otherwise subject to heavy brake loads, have the brake system checked every 3,000 miles or every three months.

** If any of the following conditions are met while driving, replace the automatic transmission fluid every 15,000 miles:
  • in conditions of heavy traffic when the ambient temperature exceeds 32°C;
  • when operating the vehicle in mountainous or hilly areas;
  • when frequently towing a trailer.
