Disassembly



1. Remove the differential cover mounting screws, differential cover and differential cover gasket.

2. Remove the bearing adjusting ring retainer.

2. Remove the bearing adjusting ring retainer.


3. Remove the left bearing adjusting ring.

3. Remove the left bearing adjusting ring.


4. Unscrew the screws securing the right bearing holder and remove the holder itself.

5. Remove the differential housing from the gearbox housing.

5. Remove the differential housing from the gearbox housing.


6. Loosen the screws securing the toothed ring gear of the main transmission driven gear.

7. Remove the final drive driven gear from the differential housing.

7. Remove the final drive driven gear from the differential housing.


8. Remove the satellite axle retaining pin.

9. Remove the satellite axle.

10. Remove the satellite gears and washers.

11. Remove the drive shaft gears and thrust washers.

11. Remove the drive shaft gears and thrust washers.


12. Remove both differential bearings.



13. Remove the speedometer drive from the differential case.

13. Remove the speedometer drive from the differential case.


Assembly



1. Install the speedometer drive pinion.

1. Install the speedometer drive pinion.


2. Install both differential bearings.

2. Install both differential bearings.


3. Install the drive shaft gears and thrust washers into the differential housing.

4. Install the satellites and their washers into the differential housing.

5. Install the satellite axle into the differential housing.

5. Install the satellite axle into the differential housing.


6. Install the satellite axle retaining pin.

7. Install the final drive driven gear and tighten the mounting screws to a torque of 70 Nm.

7. Install the final drive driven gear and tighten the mounting screws to a torque of 70 Nm.


8. Install the differential into the gearbox housing.

8. Install the differential into the gearbox housing.


9. Install the right bearing holder and tighten the mounting screws to 25 Nm.

10. Install the bearing adjusting ring.

11. Adjust the differential bearing tightening.

Adjusting differential bearings


Tighten the bearing adjusting ring until the differential radial play disappears. Adjust the differential bearing preload.

Old bearings: 1Nm of torque is required to rotate the differential at 60rpm.

New bearings: 2Nm of torque is required to rotate the differential at 60rpm.

Tighten or loosen the bearing adjuster ring to obtain the desired preload on the bearings.

Install the bearing adjustment ring retainer and tighten the mounting screw to 5 Nm.

Install the bearing adjustment ring retainer and tighten the mounting screw to 5 Nm.


12. Install the differential cover gasket, differential cover and tighten the mounting screws to 40 Nm.
