At least once every two weeks, wipe dust and dirt from the surface of the monoblock and the battery cover with a dry cloth. If electrolyte is accidentally on the cover, remove it with a clean rag moistened with a 10% solution of ammonia or soda. Then dry the surface of the cover.
To prevent oxidation of the battery terminals and wire lugs, regularly clean and lubricate them with petroleum jelly. Watch tightness of connection of tips of wires and plugs.
Periodically check the reliability of the battery on the car and, if necessary, tighten it to avoid cracks on the monoblock.
Lead-acid batteries should only be stored in a charged state. At temperatures below -20°C, the battery must be charged once a year for 48 hours with a constant voltage of 2.275 V per one battery bank, and at room temperature - once every 8 months for 6-12 hours with a constant voltage 2, 35 V per can. Storing the battery at temperatures above 30 "C is not recommended.
A layer of dirt and scale on the surface of the battery becomes a conductor for current from one contact to another and leads to self-discharge of the battery, after which premature sulfation of the plates begins. That's why the surface of the battery cover must be kept clean (wash before storage). Storing lead-acid batteries in a discharged state results in a rapid loss of performance.
When storing the battery for a long time and discharging it with high currents (in starter mode) or with a decrease in capacity, it is necessary to carry out control and training («medicinal») cycles, that is, discharge-charge with a rated current.
